When people hear “digital marketing,” they often think of social media posts or catchy ads. But studying it as a discipline has opened my eyes to how deep and strategic this field really is.
As part of the Digital Marketing minor at Rotterdam Business School, I’ve been immersed in the full marketing cycle — from understanding target audiences and building content strategies, to analyzing performance metrics and optimizing campaigns. We don’t just create content we learn based on data and branding principles.
What’s exciting is how fast everything changes. Digital marketing isn’t static. Platforms evolve, trends shift, algorithms update and our job is to adapt in real time. It’s both analytical and creative, structured yet experimental.
It’s also deeply personal. I’ve used what I’ve learned to build this very website, develop my personal brand, and understand how to grow as a professional in the digital space. It’s not just theory it’s hands-on, real-world marketing experience.
If you’re someone who enjoys problem solving, design thinking, and staying ahead of trends, digital marketing is more than just a minor. It’s a skillset that prepares you for everything the modern world of branding, content, and communication has to offer.
